News of the Weird

Have I mentioned that I joined a sports team last week? Probably the first one I've ever belonged to?

All right, it's a virtual team but still... It's not like fantasy baseball, I do have to do actual physical activities.

OMG. not REAL physical activities?

I know! That's just crazy, right?

yeah. in this day and age, sitting on your butt and typing is about as physical as we should get.... can't wait until they plant that chip in my brain

Huh. What sort of team and what are your physical activities?

*mumbles* indoor rowing

Now you'll tell me it's not a real sport but that's OK because I'm not a real athlete.

But you're getting real exercise and that's all that really matters.

But why is it so time consuming?

Well, there are worse things you could be doing with your time, like watching television.

Surfing more like.

It sounds complicated.

Not really...

So far we haven't done any team challenges and are just ranked both as a team and within the team by total meters.

The season began 5/1 and I've been pretty diligent about getting on the machine 3 times a week so I've been totting up the meters, slow though they are, so I'm currently fairly high ranked. This makes me happy for no good reason at all but if it keeps me doing the thing, all the better.

Team detail:

That's so cool. I'd even be tempted to exercise somewhat with a program like that.

Apparently, there's this whole big indoor rowing subculture...

I don't know if I will like rowing so much when it's in my muscle memory but right now, as I'm learning, I have to concentrate on each stroke which keeps it from being boring. Currently, I don't even listen to music because I don't want distraction from the bits I'm trying to put together.
