16 Random Things Meme

  1. When I was in elementary school, I planned to be a paleontologist when I grew up. I would specialize in mammals. I regarded the dinosaur kids in much the same way I regard iPod fans nowadays.

  2. My child is even more incredible than rya_kelley's are.

  3. I'm older than pilgham.

  4. I prefer chewy candy (e.g. caramels) to sucky candy (e.g. boiled sweets).

  5. I find writing spreadsheets relaxing and fun, though it isn't something I do often.

  6. I've been rowing at the gym. I'm up to about 3000 meters.

  7. My right foot is made of lead.

  8. I've been to Las Vegas twice as an adult, had a fine time and never dropped a penny gambling.

  9. My father sometimes called me, "Sister" and not in that can't remember your name way. I was reminded this because I have been reading a new, to me, Charlotte MacCleod set in the 1930s where the father also called his daugher "Sister."

  10. I have a whole rant about the movie Flubber and how inappropriate it is for children. Or anyone.
  11. One of my favorite movies is Running Out of Time by Johnnie To. I regard it as a black comedy but, apparently, I'm the only one.

  12. I have been an atheist since before I knew there was a word for it.

  13. But I believe in Murphy which, as I recall, nokomarie says is much the same as believing in God.

  14. Probably my favorite Christmas present of all time was the cavalry uniform I got when I was 4. My mother made it and I wore it everywhere, feeling really cool.

  15. I started reading Gone With the Wind in HS, along with all my friends but quit after about 700 pages because I didn't like any of the characters. I've never seen the movie either.

  16. I proposed to my husband.

Mood: nauseatedleaky

10. Both versions? (What's objectionable about Fred MacMurray?) I can see why you'd feed that way about the newer one, ick.

The Fred MacMurray one is actually called the The Absent-Minded Professor and, it's been a while since I've seen it, I recall it as innocuous.

Didn't Fred MacMurray play the villain in some noir before he became a Disney staple?

You're right, I must have been thinking of Son of Flubber. Actually, I always thought MacMurray was very tiresome in My Three Sons. I haven't seen his noir work.

I wish Robin Williams was less annoying. I don't see any movies that he's in anymore.

I admit I haven't seen a Robin Williams movie in quite some time but he's not the reason I dislike Flubber. With me, it's the grotesque violence presented as comedy appropriate for children.

I'm kind of curious as to how #16 went down. As for #2, HA! (Not that MD's not awesome)

We had been shacked up for 3 years and one January morning, as I was getting ready for work, I decided to give him the business. Something like this:

O-7: So, are you going to marry me this year?

P: Well, I'd like to.

O-7: *jaw drops*

He had been all "it's just a piece of paper" so he claims he didn't know how to say he changed his mind.

Sorry, no candlelight or rings or stuff.

Sounds practical to me.

This all appears to be true.

So you are confirming the superiority of MD to Inusaga's spawn?
