We Went to the Zoo! Zoo! Zoo!

First off, Happy Mother's Day to all of you mothers, biological and otherwise!

Secondly, we went to the Brookfield Zoo. Couldn't have had a nicer day for it except it was Mother's Day and we couldn't have had a nicer day for it. In other words, it was a bit crowded for our taste but, still, a good time was had by all.

We passed this bill board going both ways. Can someone please tell me what is being advertised? It appears to me to be an add for getting onself mutated into a superhero but if that service is available commcercially, why haven't I heard of it?

Speaking of superheroes, I wish this guy would come to my house.

I thought this rhino came out well but don't ask me if it is black or white. MD might know.

The rare and endangered Canada Goose:

Cutesy-wootsie wart hogs!

I hope they aren't talking about me...

Molting goats.

Somewhere in this picture is an Andean Condor, an absolutely enormous bird but surprsingly stealthy. And, yes, it was actually in the cage. We would catch brief glimpses.

I tried to convince MD to enter the cage and pretend to be carrion but, even though it's Mother's Day, she declined. We couldn't rope any passers by into throwing a toddler in, either.

Macaws?

Of course, I don't need to explain this is an exit bird.

The zoo claims this is the original Cookie who has been at the zoo since it opened in 1934. But, Cookie wasn't talking.

Toucan. It was really annoting hearing it referred to as 'Toucan Sam'. pilgham and I often get the urge to take a blunt instrument to other parents at museums and such.

This babboon was strutting his (or her) stuff for my benefit:

More primates on the go:

TTFN. I'm off to drink champagne, eat popcorn, and watch The Matrix with my offspring.

Philgam looks very long-suffering, and warthogs are not cutesy-wootsie in your living room. Some where out there, there is a warthog reading this.

Pilgham was looking long suffering at having his picture taken.

I'm sure those wart hogs would be very nearly as cute in my living room; remember, you've never seen my living room, of course, neither have I in a godoly while.

i don't know why but the molting goats ma\de me laugh. i think it must be nuclear energy being advertised....?

Moulting bison too, now that I look at it.

maybe the girl's mouling too and we just didn't notice cuz her eyes were so pretty....

I imagine she must be if nuclear energy is being advertised and she's had enough exposure to make her eyes glow!

i suppose. wish there was a less dangerous way to get green eyes.

I think bison always look like that.

Could be.

Que?

Developer networks never have enough money to rent bill boards.

My daughter would pretend to be carrion for me.

*sob*

She really loves you!

Bet you're wishing you got her that pinata now, eh?

It looks like a fine time was had by all. Hubby calls them "sheeple" so we avoid the zoo on "perfect" days for that exact reason...not to mention having to chase wayward kids down and not taking the wrong ones home. Although you never know, it might be a trade UP!

Hubby took the 3-year old to the zoo a couple weeks ago on a Thursday and said it was MUCH easier keeping up with her than on a weekend without a harness and leash attached. He said she was zonked out before they got back on the highway for home...lucky dog!

When MD was 3, she wanted to push the stroller at the zoo, so yeah, she would get pretty pooped.

January is our preferred month to go but we hoped everyone would be having brunch today.

Aw, seems like you had a great day. :) So whose idea was the zoo? The sweet-looking warthogs were my favorite - oh and those two primates at the end were cute too. As for the ad - color contacts?

Or 28 weeks later? Or are those just biohazards? (I am so behind the times on my horror movies.)

I'm worried that a certain zombie-obsessed family member is going to drag me to that one - bad dreams.
